I will always remember you calmness and the beautiful majorette you were during our high school years. Rest in peace, my sister.

Shirley and I considered each other "homegirls" because we dated those two handsome guys from Palmer Springs.  You know who you are (smile).  We went on a couple of double dates together and attended the 1965 junior prom.  Shirley was a majorette and we (her La Crosse) family and friends were so proud of our "pretty" Shirley.  Over the years, our paths took us in different directions.  Shirley moved north then on to Texas and I moved to North Carolina.   When we were lucky, we ended up back home on the same weekend/holiday and saw each other at church.  We spent that time catching up and just saying how glad we were to see each other.  I was sad when Shirley passed and made sure I attended her services.  I knew her classmates would be there and boy did the Class of 1965 show up!!!  I know Shirley's family felt good that her classmates were there ....I know I felt good to see them and feel the love they share.  I still see Shirley's mother and sister, as well as extended family, at least once a month.

We are confident I say and willing rather to be absent from the body and to be present with the Lord. - II Corinthians 5:8
                                                     Gone yet not forgotten
                                                     Although we are apart
                                                      Your spirit lives within me
                                                      Forever in my heart.
