In Memory

Mamie Sue Phillips - Class Of 1957

Ms. Mamie Sue Phillips (Sue Buck) was the daughter of the late George Major and the late Mammie R. Jones Phillips.  She was baptized and joined the Diamond Grove R.Z.U.A. Church in Union Level, Virginia.  She graduated from East End High School in South Hill, Virginia.  She continued to further her education at Saint Paul's College and the Career Center, in Richmond, Virginia where she received her Nursing Assistance Degree.

Sue was the joy of her class. She kept her classmates laughing all the time about something.  She was just a very happy person.

She leaves to mourn a daughter, Robin Phillips, South Hill, Virginia and a son Sgt. Todd Phillips of the home and a host of other relatives and friends.

Mamie Sue Phillips, better known to her friends as "Sue Buck", was just a beautiful person to have around you because she kept you laughing all the time....  even if you wanted to be sad, she wouldn't let you.  She could remember everything that ever happened at East End and she would say to me, "Jean Warren don't you remember?"  I would say to her Sue, no I do not remember all those things in detail that you remember and we would just laugh and laugh.

I miss you so very much!

See you later,

Your friend, Jean Warren Alexander

Sue Buck,

I will always remember your nice disposition and wonderful sense of humor. Our fathers worked together in South Hill at the Pepsi Cola Bottling Company for many years. Our families were very close. Your mother and father were like my own parents; and you were like my big sister. Rest in peace, my sister.
