Pernell and I attended Saint Augustine's College together and graduated in the Class of 1970. We had many fun days at "The Aug" and looked out for each other. Though not connected by blood, we felt like sisters and became true sorority sisters by pledging Alpha Kappa Alpha. After college, we went our separate ways but reconnected at each other's wedding. Pernell served as my maid of honor and I was one of her maids. We were blessed to see each other again at a "Saint Augustine's Girlfriends Weekend" at Virginia Beach, Virginia in 1995. It was here that we shared some of the very intimate and personal things that had occurred in our lives. When we hugged to say goodbye on the last day, somehow I think we both knew we had spent some very special minutes that we probably would never spend again. For that, I am truly grateful.
